We don’t care who you voted for, how many figures are in your income, what kind of flip flops or shoes you wear, what doubts or questions you have, or even how messed up you think your life might be. We have a place for you…we believe we are a community of imperfect people who are trying to serve a perfect Savior.we are a proudly diverse group of people learning to live and love together.
We are a people who have busy, messy lives, but we’re pursuing and experiencing a transformative relationship with Jesus and one another. So whether you’ve been following Jesus for a long time or you’re exploring faith for the first time, we’re glad you’re here.
How long is a DBCOC service and what is the service like?
In total, a Downtown Bixby Church of Christ church service is about 60 minutes in length. Services begin with the singing - song lyrics are projected onto the screen so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. In between some of the songs that are sung a-cappella, you will find that one of our members will lead a prayer. You can pray silently with them or offer up your own prayer. Somewhere in the service we will spend time remembering that Jesus gave His life for us on the cross. During this time trays will be passed with two cups in each slot. There will
be juice on the top and the second cup on the bottom will have a piece of cracker/bread in it. These will be passed out during a song. A few thoughts will be shared with us about Jesus' sacrifice, and then we will be lead in a prayer for the bread which reminds us of His body being crucified for us.
Next, we may hear a scripture or sing a verse of a song then the man who led the first prayer will return to the front to lead a prayer for the juice which reminds us of the blood Jesus shed on our behalf. After the singing portion of the service is complete, one of our ministers will share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus from God's word.
